Joe Mancino

Joe’s work is rooted in humanistic, contextual, and strengths-based approaches, focusing on clients’ unique individual experiences and exploring potential for growth.

Joe Mancino, Therapist in Training

Joe brings over a decade of experience as a documentary and television producer into the therapy room, where he helps individuals, couples, and families understand how personal stories, family narratives, and cultural messages shape who we are and how we relate to others. He approaches therapy as a collaborative, compassionate process where clients can clarify what matters most to them and take meaningful steps toward growth.

Drawing from humanistic, contextual, and strengths-based approaches, Joe works with clients to explore the unique intersections of their identities, relationships, and values. He believes each person is the expert of their own life and values walking alongside clients as they discover new possibilities.

Joe provides affirming, sex-positive care to individuals and relationships of all backgrounds, identities, and structures—including monogamous, non-monogamous, LGBTQ+, and heterosexual clients. His perspective as a queer man informs his understanding of how societal and personal narratives shape identity and connection, while his warm and curious presence supports all clients in feeling seen, respected, and supported. Previously, he co-facilitated peer counseling groups for sexually fluid men and individuals navigating the coming out process.

Outside the therapy room, Joe enjoys spending time with his partner and their dog, playing chess and bocce with friends, checking out local drag performances, and goofing around with his nieces and nephew.

Marriage & Family Therapist

Marriage & Family Therapist

In Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), the unit of treatment isn’t just the person – even if only a single person is interviewed – it is the set of relationships in which the person is embedded. MFTs take a holistic perspective to health care; they are concerned with the overall, long-term well-being of individuals and their families.

Marriage and Family Therapists are mental health professionals trained in psychotherapy and family systems and licensed to assess and treat mental and emotional disorders. They do so within the context of all relationship structures including marriage, couples and family systems. Marriage and family therapists treat a wide range of serious clinical problems including: depression, marital problems, anxiety, individual psychological problems, and child-parent problems.

After receiving treatment, almost 90% of clients report an improvement in their emotional health, and nearly two-thirds report an improvement in their overall physical health. A majority of clients report an improvement in their functioning at work.
