Supervision is a space for emergence.

We offer strength-based, holistic development of trainees and students under individual/dyadic and group supervision.

We strive to foster collaborative supervisory relationships with peers on different stages of their journey towards licensure as mental health professionals.

We attend to skills required by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT), like systems thinking, biopsychosocial-spiritual considerations, collaboration, leadership, ethics, and diversity.

In addition to these formalities and as a cornerstone of our practice, we balance structured tasks with an emphasis on self-care practices. Our aim is to remain emotionally flexible and reduce burnout as a collective.

Through our training processes, we remain cognizant to the unique needs of each client while remaining grounded in systemic and feminist theories. Pacing and clinical goal setting is a collaborative process based on each supervisee’s unique strengths and capacities for growth.

We foster collaboration and a flattening of the inherent hierarchy of supervision. Through these efforts, we encourage a greater sense of safety and make space for taking risks and making mistakes. Cultivating a strengths-based, mutually educational environment where humor and vulnerability disarm fears of inadequacy allows for optimal growth.

We invite curiosity of moments in session or in the therapeutic and supervisory relationships that are stalled or tense. We have curiosity for “themes” within our own lives which may be impacting client work.
While our primary supervision focus is attending to the clinician in training, we recognize that the human is also impacted by the process of supervision. As with any clinical practice, our supervisory exploration enhances the ability for supervisees to hold multiplicity, bringing much needed perspective out from the therapeutic space and into a divided world.
Supervision is a space to reflect on how our personal experiences shape our work. We believe that exploring both the contradictions and strengths within ourselves as therapists helps us better understand the liberation journeys our clients are on.
We encourage supervisees to explore their identities and intersectionality, and to develop a personal therapeutic style — one rooted in a shared commitment to authenticity, awareness, and joy.

How We Can Help

You don’t have to do this alone. Supervision offers a steady hand of support in building your confidence and sharpening your clinical instincts. Now, early on in your career, is a critical time to cultivate positive habits and gain exposure to a wide variety of methodologies. While we offer comprehensive training, we remain curious about nurturing your unique way. We invite you to forge your own path as a therapist alongside your peers, while remaining supported by those who have walked ahead of you on the path.

Validation is coming! The important milestone of attaining a license may feel as if it’s locked behind an overwhelming, bureaucratic barrier — that breeds isolation. Join a group practice that facilitates community and fosters your development not just towards licensure but to the professional you will be beyond. We’ve got this, together.

The breadth of our stories make us human. Understanding this, we center collaboration, intersectionality, and the development of new voices in the field. While no two therapists are alike, similarly toned perspectives are too often highlighted. As an alternative, we value fresh perspectives and welcome them into our therapy rooms.
Client:therapist relationships don’t exist in a vacuum. Countertransference happens, and often requires outside perspectives to find resolution and clarity. Our supervision program provides space to explore what arises in session so you can remain grounded and ethical in your practice.
Working with clients is only half the story. The business side of therapy is a critical piece that ensures you can thrive and grow alongside your clients. Our supervision program offers professional guidance that honors your ethics and goals as a businessperson and helps you forge a sustainable path forward.
We can help you build. Parts of our program include business mentorship, and all of our program will help you prepare for the in’s and out’s of practicing as a therapist. We aim for all of our staff to feel prepared to take the next step in their career — whether that’s starting their own private practice or pursuing deepening their relationship with KingfisherMFT!
