About Racquel Simmons, MFT
Know your worth, live in your truth. In a world where social norms dictate our assumptions of ourselves and others, it is an act of bravery to re-discover your unique voice. I aim to create intentional, distraction free space for you to get to know yourself in a meaningful way. Healing begins by challenging narratives built from trauma, in order to make room to develop tools that help your inner self to shine through.
As a trained Marriage and Family therapist, I believe that change begins within the home and transfers down for generations to come. Culture, religion and family background play a major role in constructing a unique couple culture and relational dynamic. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community and a woman of color, I recognize the nuances of multicultural mixed backgrounds and the need to bridge the gap between mental health for people of color as we dive into liberating adverse generational cycles.
I empower the couples I work with to cultivate patience through radical listening, increasing more effective communication and resolving conflict with greater ease. It would be my privilege to guide you with deepening your relationship with those you love while assisting you in reaching your personal goals. Give yourself the chance to re-invest in your relationships while also prioritizing yourself.
Seeking therapy has historically not been presented as a tool for self healing within the Black and Brown community. After a long career within the social services field, Racquel returned to school attaining her Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy in order to provide couple and individual therapy for clients of all ages and identified communities. Racquel is originally from the Bronx, NY and in her free time enjoys listening to music, journaling and playing with her dog. Racquel looks forward to guiding you through difficult patches in your relationship, exploring issues including yet not limited to, contrasting individual conflict styles, challenging societies gender norms, sexual identity and exploration, infidelity, and recognizing self-identity to increase communication and resolution within your relationships.

Marriage & Family Therapist
Marriage & Family Therapist
In Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT), the unit of treatment isn’t just the person – even if only a single person is interviewed – it is the set of relationships in which the person is embedded. MFTs take a holistic perspective to health care; they are concerned with the overall, long-term well-being of individuals and their families.
Marriage and Family Therapists are mental health professionals trained in psychotherapy and family systems and licensed to assess and treat mental and emotional disorders. They do so within the context of all relationship structures including marriage, couples and family systems. Marriage and family therapists treat a wide range of serious clinical problems including: depression, marital problems, anxiety, individual psychological problems, and child-parent problems.
After receiving treatment, almost 90% of clients report an improvement in their emotional health, and nearly two-thirds report an improvement in their overall physical health. A majority of clients report an improvement in their functioning at work.
